No not really. I live about 620 miles north of Stockholm. In a small town outside of LuleÃ¥. It’s cold and dark here so theres nothing to do except stay inside and slap the bass 🙂

Nice to see you here Fantomas! I am not that familiar with most of your work but I’ve seen some of your slapping on youtube. I liked the Astro Zombies version of Bang Bang alot and Kings of Nuthin is just kickass. Music that makes you happy and in the mood for a drink B)

Looking forward to the wisdom you will share on this board.

And the most obvious question then would be: Why where you banned?

Personally I use both. Depending on the sound I’m going for. If you slap it after the pluck it works great for some slower songs and if you slap first then pluck it gets a little more tempo, great for speedier songs. Although sometimes it’s the opposite. So yeah I use both.

Yeah pretty much. I just found out that we are going to Norway in a week or two to visit my grandmother for her birthday. Can’t wait to get there and see the nature again. I’m gonna visit Tromsö for sure and buy some new records and see what the musicstores there have to offer.

Sweden has a pretty big psycho- rockabilly scene. Lots of underground bands. Too bad I live in the northern parts of Sweden where noone has ever seen an upright bass. I was however refering to your metalscene over there which is, in my opinion, one of the best in the world.

My dad is from a small village outside of Tromsö. I do have some relatives down in Drammeln too but I havn’t been down there for at least 20 years.

Sweden is pretty much like Norway, just a little less mountains 🙂 And everything is cheaper.

    Hello to you too.

I myself live in Sweden but my father is norwegian so I have spent almost every summer in norway since I was born until I turned 20 or something. Now I’m lucky if I get to go there once every second year or so. Beautiful country with beautiful women and great musicscene.

Thanks Memphisevil. I’ve been watching your videos on youtube and am currently trying to learn the dragtriplet from you. Hope to see more of you on youtube in the future.

Yeah as I said I’ll give them another go. Haven’t played them more than a couple of hours since my fingers get sore from banging into the fingerboard. I raised the action a bit so it’s comfortable to play but then I can’t get a good slap going. It will be fun to see how much they will loosen up in a couple of weeks. I heard Ville from Mad Sin used them and he slaps like they are made of rubber 🙂

I had FMI Pro weedwackers and the E is supposedly alot better than normal weedwackers but I still think it sucks. Let me know when you get your superiors as I’d like to hear a review from another newbie.

    Well thank you.

I don’t really like the silverslaps for me anyways. They are kinda stiff so I have to lower the strings to the point where I smack the fingers into the fingerboard to get a decent slapsound. Everyone say they are really low tension but I liked the wackers more for playability but the silverslaps kicks their ass tonewise. I’m gonna play them for a while and see if I can get used to them as the E and A wackers are pretty useless. No point in having a 4 string bass where you only use 2 strings.

    Sorry for the rant 🙂

I have tried Weedwackers which I liked alot. I’d still use them if that damn E string had any sound in it. Now I use silverslaps which sound great but my fingers don’t like them. Don’t know what to try next.
