I just need to put this out there:
People need to know who Slick Joe Fick is. He was a founding member of the Dempseys from memphis, who have been known as the house band on Beale Street and were in the movie “Walk the line”. Joe Fick portrayed Bill Black (Elvis’ bassist) in that movie. He now plays with the Travis Mann Band, and is still the reason I wanted to get into upright bass playing. He’s a showman. Period. Check out some videos in the music/video section of his website at http://www.slickjoefick.com :woohoo:
Get this man’s name out there as he is a very accomplished bassist with an interesting back story.
If I could offer one more, another great guy and personal friend of mine is Ryan Weber of the Weber Brothers band. The Weber brothers were discovered by Ronnie Hawkins and became the Hawks for some time before they continued on with The Weber Brothers Band. Great upright bass player, and his brother Sam isn’t too shabby on the 6 string either.
