Howdy all,
I’ve been slapping upright for nearly a decade now. Sure seems like I should be better! I wanted to get some opinions on a set of gut strings & I thought I’d head over to rockabillybass.com & it seems it disappeared. I wound up here. I guess it’s been a while  I play any kind of music you can slap a bass to. Rockabilly, classic country, bluegrass, dixie land, swing…you name it. Mostly in a band named Cornpone that has been gigging around Michigan for just about a decade. Seems like we should be better too! :woohoo:
Pleased to meet you all!
Hello Lowdown76. Glad your here. There are a few guys on this board but not a lot of action. We can use a few active members to get this rolling some.
I’ve been playing slap for about a year now. I’ve gotten better of course but I still have a long way to go. I can slap a decent swing 8th at about 170 BPM. I have Innovation Super Slappers on my Shen SB90, a beautiful blond with a nice round bottom that loves to be slapped.
I have a three piece jam with two guitarists. We jam a lot on R&R, Country and then we switch it up some and I grab the electric bass guitar and we dig into Hot Tuna, Dead and some other wonderful music.
