ParticipantHey Chris,
Welcome to the board, check out the vids by both Ryan Gould & Nicolas Dubouchet, it will give you a whole new appreciation for the instrument!

ParticipantYou sir are a genius!!!! Your dynamics are fantastic, how did you develop such a subtle touch with your slap hand? Again, fantastic & thanks for the video! :woohoo:

Participant+ 1 on the above advice. It is more important right now, if you are not familiar with the upright to develop your left hand first. Learn where all of the notes are on the finger board and learn to play them in tune. get a copy of New Method for Double Bass by F. Simandl, learn and play the exercises through second position. Just play pizz (Pluck) with your right hand for now. You get that down now you will be able to play scales, hundreds of song and actually learn faster. Continue to learn the other positions but now you can start slapping & learning to play by ear with songs. Johnny Cash is a good place to start with your ear. Scott Hinds video’s (youtube) are a good intro to slap. Hope this helps.

ParticipantMost likely it is the Six Rounds PU. I bought a Rockabilly Recoil So I could blend the Clicky and Bridge PU. No matter what I did it sounded thin and nasally.
The clicky box also rolls off the lows in a BIG way. In other word it sounded like shit.
In the end I ended up wiring in a Pintech Drum trigger ($20.00) to my Rev Solo II and using a preamp to cure the impedance mismatch. Sounds HUGE!!!!! If you are pressed for money try just the Rev Solo ($139.00) It will sound good without a preamp and get you a good amount of click by itself. Later you can get a preamp if you want more control over your sound.Just my 2 cents.

Participant
Click on the ‘View’ menu, click ‘Hide Tablature’. Done.
You, sir, are a gentleman & a scholar. Thank you. :cheer:

Participant
Guitarpro sounds interesting too. I’ve never learned notes, but I’d really like to! Feel like an illiterate sometimes.
Guitarpro is a decent tool to start with, the problem is that you are always stuck with the tab. I wish there was a way to hide the tab. Learning to read music is an essential discipline to learn in order to be a good musician. See if you can get your mitts on at least a beginning bass book by Mel Bay to learn the notes.

ParticipantAmSlo works on both platforms. I use it all of the time. Playing with feeling IS more important than playing fast, the trick is to be able to play fast with feeling.

ParticipantI just spent some time writing about pick ups. Hit submit and it got lost in cyberspace. Something about having to be registered even tough I can clearly see that I am logged in. I will try and rewrite it tomorrow as I need time to play my bass now.
