hey i’ve just joined this forum to talk to fellow slap addicts and get the feel for slapping my bass after a few years out of the loop.i stopped slapping when the bands i was playing in told me quote..” there’s no slap in bluegrass” and “the swing we play is not slap style swing” whaterver that is.anyway the gigs were plentiful and i needed to learn fast having been a guitar player for twenty years before taking up the doublebass. having got the bug from listening to hotclub of cowtown and rockabilly stuff i’m now back in slap mode, whatchout brighton…also experimenting with mixed sets of strings, got a steel e, gut a, silver slap d + g.playing a zellar through an old acoustic image combo.
